At the Andrews Air
Force Base Child Development Centers, we believe that helping a child develop to his or her full potential is a tremendous responsibility. It is our goal to work as a team with parents in providing children with the kind of environment that will encourage them to learn, grow, and be happy.
The center-based program is offered from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday
through Friday at three locations: CDC 1, Bldg 4575 on Virginia Avenue;
CDC 2, Bldg. 4783 on San Antonio Boulevard; and CDC 3,
"JP Hoyer" Bldg 3725 on Fetchet Ave
on the east side of the base. Services offered at these locations
include full-day care, before and after school care, part-day preschool
and hourly child care on a space available basis.
Children from 6 weeks to 5 years old are eligible for program
services. Registration is maintained for all programs at the
Supplemental Programs and Services Office which is located next to CDC 1,
Bldg. 4570 on Virginia Ave. Registration must be accomplished in
person and all enrolling children must have proof of current
immunizations. For more information, call (301) 981-9981.

The Staff
The CDC staff has undergone thorough background checks and screening prior to appointment. They complete extensive training in early childhood development, First Aid and CPR. Some of the employees at the center have exceeded the Air Force training requirements by completing their Child Development Associates Credential, and have college course work in early childhood education. The staff ratio is lower than state requirements allowing the opportunity for your child to receive more individualized attention.
The Curriculum
Developmentally Appropriate Practices enables our staff to provide a rich learning environment for the whole child. This curriculum is designed to promote social, affective, language, creative, cognitive, and physical development.
Food Service Information
Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks are cooked daily on the premises. By participating in the USDA Food Program we provide nutritious home cooked meals. Children sit and eat with the staff using family style dining
techniques enhancing their self-help skills while molding their table manners.
