Child Care Registration

Request for Child Care form: DD Form 2606

Priority Placement Verification Information Form:  FMP 2606

Child Care Registration is the one stop for all of your childcare needs at Andrews Air Force Base. Families wishing to use any of the child development programs should visit the child care registration office for information regarding childcare options, available vacancies, and to complete the required enrollment papers.

If there are currently no available vacancies parents will be asked to complete a DD Form 2606, Request for Child Care, to be placed on the waiting list. Families are placed on the waiting list based on an established priority system and contacted when a vacancy becomes available for their child.

Priority for child care spaces is based on guidance found in DODI 6060.2, Child Development Programs, DODI 6060.3, School-Age Care Programs and AFI 34-248, Child Development Center. Andrews AFB Family member Programs priority for child care is as follows:

Priority 1

The following applies to those assigned to AAFB :

Single/Dual Active Duty Military or DoD civilian employees

Active Duty Military/DoD Civilian employee with working or fulltime student spouse

Priority 2
The following applies to those not assigned to AAFB:
Single/Dual Active Duty Military or DoD civilian employees

Active Duty Military/DoD Civilian employee with working or fulltime student spouse

Priority 3

The following applies to those assigned to AAFB:
Active Duty Military/DoD civilian employee with non-working spouse

DoD contractors with working or fulltime student spouse

Priority 4

The following applies to those not assigned to AAFB:
Active Duty Military/DoD civilian with non-working spouse

DoD Contractor with non-working spouse

- Assigned to AAFB means: Sponsor must be working or living on AAFB Base, living in the Summerfield Housing Area, working at a detachment that is home based at AAFB.
-Full Time student is defined as taking at least 12 credit hours per semester

When placing children in a child development center every effort will be made to accommodate parent wishes for a particular program or location. However, the registration office will offer the first available child care space to the family who is next on the waiting list. If the family prefers care at another program/location, they may accept the offered care and request a transfer to the program/location of their choice.

Families who are due to PCS to Andrews may place their children on the projected waiting list prior to their arrival. When a sponsor receives orders to Andrews they complete the DD Form 2606 and forward it to the child care registration office with copy of their orders. After arrival at Andrews a call to the registration office will activate the application using the initial date of application to be placed on the appropriate active waiting list.

Expectant parents may also place their unborn child on an inactive waiting list. To be placed on the inactive list a completed DD Form 2606 and proof of pregnancy are submitted to the child care registration office. Following the birth of the child, parents call the registration office and their DD Form 2606 is moved to the appropriate active waiting list with the initial date of submission as the effective date.

Registration Procedures
When a child care space is offered, necessary enrollment paperwork is completed at the child care registration office. To complete enrollment paperwork, parents will need child's immunization record, current LES/earnings statement plus names and phone numbers for local emergency contacts. During the enrollment appointment, fees will be calculated and a parent orientation will be scheduled.

If during the enrollment appointment there is missing information, i.e. missing immunizations, no earnings statement for a parent, no local emergency contact information, it could delay the date for starting care.

Single/Dual military will be given 30 days from their enrollment date to provide the appropriate program with a copy for their AF Form 357 or equivalent from their military branch.

Part-Day Enrichment Program

Part-Day Enrichment Program is designed for three to five year old children who are not in need of full day child care. The focus of the program is to provide children the opportunity to experience the social skills needed for a successful life. Children in the Part Day Enrichment Program develop a love of learning that will follow them all of their lives.

The program varies in hours and days of the week based on availability. The program follows a school based calendar and operates from September through June.
